Revenge of the Sith
Above Coruscant, Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker undertake a mission to rescue Chancellor Palpatine from General Grievous. After defeating Count Dooku on Grievous’ ship, Anakin reunites with his wife, Padmé Amidala, who reveals her pregnancy, soon followed by Anakin’s troubling visions of her dying in childbirth. Appointed to the Jedi Council by Palpatine but denied the rank of Master, Anakin grows distrustful of the Jedi. Palpatine reveals himself as the Sith Lord and tempts Anakin with promises to save Padmé, leading Anakin to help him kill Jedi Master Mace Windu and embrace the dark side as Darth Vader. Palpatine then issues Order 66, purging Jedi across the galaxy while Anakin, as Vader, kills the Jedi in the Temple. Obi-Wan and Yoda survive, and Obi-Wan confronts Vader on Mustafar, defeating him. Padmé, who dies giving birth to twins Luke and Leia, believes Anakin still has good within him. Palpatine rescues a mutilated Vader, encasing him in a black suit. The Jedi conceal the twins and go into hiding, with Obi-Wan watching over Luke on Tatooine, while the Galactic Empire rises under Palpatine’s rule.
